OUR SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS, CONTINENTAL BANK IN EDUCATION

scholarship graduation

At Continental, part of why we got into equipment finance was putting people in business, and giving out scholarships to aspiring college students is another way we do just that. All of our scholarship recipients are first-time members of their family to go seek a higher education. Building future leaders is exactly who we want to empower, and we couldn’t think of any better way to reinvest in our community. Here’s what each of these scholarships means to these three students.

 OUR THREE ENTREPRENEURS

First up is our recipient Nathan Suitter, a transfer student at the University of Utah’s Eccles School of Business. Nathan first received his Associate’s Degree in America Sign Language and is completing his certification to be a state interpreter in Utah. Nathan chose to major in Entrepreneurship because, “a large part of interpreting is freelance work, and requires knowledge of starting your own business”. Nathan also says he aspires to interpret nationally in areas related to politics and law. We wish you the best Nathan and are glad to help you along your path through education.

Next is Mickenzie Burns. Mickenzie spent her summer volunteering up at Camp Rodger for the YMCA. Originally from Washington state, Mickenzie loves working outdoors and enjoys fishing, hiking, and ATVing—all easy things to do when working at a campsite. Mickenzie is earning her bachelor’s in Marketing so she can pursue further education in the Entertainment Arts and Engineering Production fields. Eventually, she has goals to become an Entrepreneur.  She thanked Continental by saying, “remember the name Mickenzie Burns because one day that name will be out there changing the world because of you.”  With your drive and ambition Mickenzie, we don’t doubt it.

We gave our last scholarship to Timothy Aun. Timothy is in his last semester of school at the business college and is excited about the leverage the scholarship gives him to spend more time on finding a jumping point into his career. Timothy also just spent some time in Korea on a study abroad and hopes to be a bridge for people from other countries to work together. Much of his time during the study abroad was spent with start-ups and he hopes to build a business he can sustain after graduation. We hope the best for you Timothy and all of your entrepreneurial efforts.

PUTTING PEOPLE IN BUSINESS

All three of our scholarship recipients want to be entrepreneurs in their own way. Helping entrepreneurs and small business comes second nature here at the bank and we’re happy to help in more ways than just financing. We want to be your business advisors and confidants. We like to keep in touch with our recipients and will be excited to see how they develop throughout and after their education.
